How It Started

Fan fiction. It started with Final Fantasy and Constantine fan fiction. And now, here I am with my own stories in the world. I still remember the first piece of fiction I turned in during a high school English class. It came back with the words too Hollywood scribbled on top.

A few years later, sitting in a night class at Eastern, I got an email that I sold my first story. I texted my partner and my brother, the two people who had been saying, you should try and actually do something with this.

Luckily, that group chat is still going.

How it’s Going

2017, a year from much simpler times, saw the release of my first book, Jack Be Quick, a medical thriller inspired by Jack the Ripper. On a smaller scale, I’ve been fortunate enough to land short stories and reviews across dozens of publications. Find some of them here: Selected Fiction.

Outside of stories and the never-ending journey to a sophomore novel, I’ve had the opportunity to freelance on a number of amazing projects, from local events and engagements to narrative design for video games, including the forthcoming cyberpunk title Nivalis.

I’m on and off social media because, well, let’s face it, screaming into a void gets old after a while. Oddly enough, I love email. The millennial letter writing I guess. Shoot me a message if you want, benjiswandering@gmail.com, there’s always room at the table.
